Makers Market- Recap!

We just finished up the Annual Whittier Neighborhood Art Crawl, Makers Market, and want to send a huge thank you to everyone who participated, stopped by Light Grey Art Lab, and supported the arts this past weekend! We had a great time meeting all of you, sharing our space, and exhibiting some of the local crafters, makers, and designers.

Makers Market

Local artists displayed some of their handmade goods, t-shirts, screen prints, books, originals and more! You could find illustrated art books by Jo Yeh, colorful cards and stationary by Hooray Today, and lots of tiny felted objects by Yinfan Huang among others. Light Grey Art Lab was just one of several galleries hosting the events, representing a diverse group of artists, communities, and exhibits.

Makers Market

Accompanying the art sale, Light Grey hosted a public game night and cookout for visitors and participants. The event was party themed games, such as Masquerade and Skulls & Roses, offering a fun, relaxed, and energetic night- It was a great chance to get to know some of the other artists and contributors!

We also opened up our adjunct gallery to the summer-long Light Grey Pop-Up Shop! From now until July 20th, we will be exhibiting and selling original works of art, pottery, prints, collaborative projects, zines, and more! The collection of available artwork will be rotating throughout the pop-up shop, with many sales, featured artist works, and framed pieces.

Makers Market

You can view some of the available works on the Light Grey Shop or stop by in person- we would love to show you around and share some of the upcoming projects! We appreciate your support and the support of local makers!

Mark your calendars for June 28th for the next outdoor art event, Art Fest! We will have hundreds of prints and projects available for purchase and viewing! More details to come.

Craft'za!

We have big news for all of you local artists, collectors, and craft lovers- Light Grey Art Lab gets to participate in the local craft convention this weekend, Craft'za!

We will have our own Light Grey booth where we can teach visitors how to play Rolemodels: the Battle for Vyk'Tornaahl, give you a free Light Grey Tarot Reading, or share some of our limited edition, printed book projects such as Girls: Fact + Fiction and In Place: Wish You Were Here. It will be wonderful to show off some of these projects and promote all of the artists who made these projects possible. Come by and say hello!

Autoptic 2013

Craftza is located in the old Grain Belt Bottling House right on the corner of 13th and Marshall. You can stop by anytime between 10am-5pm, and check out all of the handmade gifts, screen prints, felted objects, and beautifully crafted works by tons of local shops and independent artists! It will be a perfect event for holiday shopping and a chance to support these great craftsman.

You can see more information about this event on the Craft'za Facebook event page or on their webpage here. We will see you there!

Custom Artwork to help raise money for Oliver's Treatment.

Meowy Christmas! This guy is hanging out in my lap and getting his Christmas cuddles.
Oliver, my sweet kitty

Hi guys, It's Lindsay.
It's been a tough week. Chris and I have been in and out of the University of Minnesota Veterinary Clinic this past week and just got some really sad news. Our kitty, Oliver, has been diagnosed with having cancerous tumors in his lungs. We've decided to try to give him the best shot at fighting it, and he's currently getting chemotherapy to try to treat them. He's a tough boy and has a fighting chance since he's an otherwise healthy boy. With his chemo, he's got a chance of shrinking or stopping the growth of the tumors, and we're hopeful that it makes living happily with them a real possibility. He is happy, not in any pain, and has been racing around like a crazy cat regardless of his diagnosis.

I'm not a person that gives up easily, and though it's been very hard to understand it all and very expensive, I am determined to try to help however I can.

I have set up a small online shop where I'll be creating custom artwork for anyone that is interested or willing to trade a nice piece of art for help in offsetting the cost of his treatment. If you are looking for a nice gift for someone you love, or just would like a nice illustration for yourself, I would be happy to create one for you.

Please help me spread the word with anyone you might know that could be interested.
I have also set up a donation page on my website for anyone that is interested in donating whatever amount (if you are not interested in a piece of work) HERE.

Here are some examples of the types of work that I'll be selling. If you are interested in prints or patterns, I would be happy to make either!
Thanks so much, and if all you can do is share this post for me, I would be forever grateful.

A link to my custom art shop fundraiser can be found here.
I'll be doing these on a first-come, first-served basis and will try my best to create them quickly for anyone willing to donate.
Questions? Send me a note at my personal email, lindsay@paperbicycle.com

Here are some samples of my artwork.
Thanks so much, you guys, for your help. I appreciate it more than you can know.
