In Place Art Book - One Year Anniversary Sale!

We are celebrating the one year anniversary of our In Place Art Book and Project!

In mid 2013, we began an intensive collaborative art project that included the works and efforts of fifty concept artists, illustrators, designers, and writers. Each of the participating artists created a new piece of artwork inspired by some of the most magical, sublime, and sacred locations around the world. This project was launched and released in August 2013. As we recognize the contributing artists and project, we are offering a one year anniversary special! "In Place is a collection of artwork that delves into these sublime, historical, and inspiring places, creating a breathtaking and informative journey through the most epic landscapes on earth. This collaborative project is meant to bring together individuals from all over the world to create a greater understanding of the places we live in and dream of."

This project took nearly eight months to complete, tons of research, and a few real life inspirations. Some of the locations include an abandoned ship in edge of Antarctica, the long lost Island of Mu, bustling cities of Portugal, the ancient Bagan Temples, Kowloon Walled City, and more.

The In Place Book and content remains relevant to our own personal practice, love for travel, and experiences of place. The book includes a forward written by Arctic Explorer, Lonnie Dupre, writings about each location, and artist biographies and contact information.

Light Grey Black Friday

Mark your calendars for November 29th- December 2nd! It's Black Friday, one of the most feared and exhilarating unofficial holidays, and we thought we could use this weekend to host a giant art sale and our annual Light Grey fundraiser!

We are happy to announce that we will be having Light Grey Black Friday, a four day art sale and event, featuring hundreds of exhibition archival prints, limited edition books and decks, paper toys, and more all for a discounted price. These are works from our past exhibitions including Night of the Exquisite Corpse, The Light Grey Tarot, Station Zero, Girls: Fact + Fiction, In Place, and more. These projects are near and dear to our heart, and we would love to share them with all of you.

This event is not just a large sale, but our Light Grey Fundraiser. All proceeds from this event will go towards future exhibitions, collaborative printed projects, classroom materials, and printing costs. Every purchase goes towards making these projects and large scale collaborations happen. We appreciate all of your support and participation.



About Light Grey Art Lab: Light Grey Art Lab is a gallery, classroom, and event space located in Minneapolis, MN. Run by a small team of artists, Light Grey holds new monthly exhibitions featuring up to 150 artist each month, published collaborative projects, weekly podcasts, lectures, classes, workshops, traveling workshops, and more. Our goal is to bring together all types of creatives for learning, collaboration, and creation.

Ok - yeah, it's Sunday night, but we have the jams on and we're making progress. Though we missed the window to call this 'Spring' cleaning, we are going strong and we are on a mission! Over the next week we're going to make some awesome changes to the gallery including a laundry list of things that, until now, we've only been dreaming of.

We'll be unveiling the new Light Grey next weekend! We're excited to show it off at our upcoming HUGE ART SALE, our July Fundraiser! Don't forget to stop in and tell us what a great job we did and see an amazing amount of artwork donated by Light Grey's contributing artists. Most of the work will be on sale for $15 - $35 and we'll be having plenty of sales going on ONLINE as well!

Light Grey Fundraiser: Print + Project Sale

July 12th- 14th 10am-7pm

It's that time of year again! It is time to clean out the back closet, the flat files, and all of the drawers- making room for new projects!



This summer, we are having a Light Grey Fundraiser, selling archival gallery prints, printed book projects, the Light Grey Tarot, paper toys, temporary tattoos and more!



Since opening our doors in March of 2012, we have hosted more than 15 large group shows, and exhibited over 1000 artists from all over the world!! We are extremely grateful for all of the artists who participate in our shows and classes, as well as the local arts community, and of course, our online community!



This fundraiser is intended to both celebrate and revive these beautiful prints, as well as give visitors to the gallery a chance to directly assist Light Grey is making future projects come to life. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards new workshops and classroom materials, published projects, and supporting our large and collaborative exhibitions.

 

The fundraiser will be July 12-14th from 10am-7pm. We will have tons of discounted prints to choose from, books, and works from all of our shows.

Are you out of town and would like to participate? No problem, we will be setting up an option on our Light Grey shop to purchase combinations of projects and prints. More details to come!

It's a Go: Light Grey Art Lab Launch!

It's been a long time coming! We are so very excited to announce the opening of Light Grey Art Lab , community center for creative enrichment.

This is a space dedicated to collaboration, creation and community.
Through the efforts of a handful of extremely passionate and creative individuals, we've been able to bring you a community education lab where you can learn, play, and create with other like-minded individuals through workshops designed to enhance the right side of your mind, gallery openings, and events that will get you creating with us! We're ready and excited to announce our line-up of spring workshops, including a variety of digital mediums based art courses, a diverse collection of hands-on traditional workshops, and even some courses designed to give you a fun and entertaining alternative to a night on the town!

We're lucky to be in such a vibrant and active Arts community in the Twin Cities. We know we're not the only ones around here that crave a little more creative interaction! We know there are a ton of you that have skills to share, things to teach, and art & design to exhibit. So, why don't you bring it our way and let us provide an outlet for your creativity!

I want to personally thank Chris Hajny, Francesca Buchko, Alyssa Nassner, Llew Mejia, and Jesse Riggle for stepping up to the plate and helping craft some fantastic workshops in our very first semester! We can't wait to get creative with you. We'll be introducing classes on a rolling basis -- hoping to bring you new and fun things try every month!
